this second part really ties it all together really well. I found to be more into it than the first part... i especially liked the hostel part.

Refreshing

I found it to be a refreshing change from the countless penis jokes and violence heavy movies out there. The constantly moving animated style matches well with the guitar of the soundtrack, has a very dreamlike quality to it. The attention to detail on the backgrounds is just lovely.

I also like the little nuances and how natural the characters feel.. the part with the map rolling back up was great. Its like those little touches that dont really impact the story at all but make the characters feel much more human and natural. You went like that extra mile.

It's also cool to see you back in the animation circuit, great stuff. This series has come a long way

next time spend more than 10 mins on an original concept rather than trolling youtube for things to port over. I have you 2 stars one for you and one for your friend <3

We didn't see any of those movies on YouTube. We thought of the idea ourselves because we thought it could be funny. We noticed those Marth things a while after we finished making this.

Oh well. Getting a review from you is still pretty darn cool.

Pretty good

I think it turned out well.. had no clue what to expect from it.
I like your aggressive camera angles. I think adding a bit more wandering by the camera would help some.. like when you cut to the tv.. a little subtle zoom in to let the camera get settled would have been nice.. its such a harsh camera change that having that little .. 'hey get used to this tv in your face' would have been nice.. theres alot of shows on tv and in movies that do that, keep an eye out for it.

I think your audience felt a little static... in the first shot when you see em from behind it would been nice to have a slight movement.. maybe someone scratches their head.. or the woman looks around... *something*... reason i say that is because when you have the audience clapping suddenly the scene feels like it has actual people in it and makes the non animated audience even more noticeable.

Ok im gonna grill you on typographyyy you knew it was comingggg.. your type is pretty good actually. I think my main issue is with that blur in and out you used.. since your movie is so short it feels like its used way too often. i dont think its even necessary inside the movie.. the music starts out very cheery and 'poppy' with that strong bass.. i think just making it appear bluntly with no blur would have matched up the mood of the audio better.. like for the main title a slow graceful fade out would have been effective rather than that quick blur out. anytime you use a filter ask yourself if its adding to the movie in any way.. if the answer is no or im not sure. then you dont need it.

nice recap

I love the concept behind things like this, for someone who doesnt quite visit the portal nearly enough, its cool to go through this and see some of the highlights of the year. Good job squeezing it in today.

Points to consider:

I think the typography at the beginning was weak. I think a serif font like Times Roman would have felt more appropriate. Right now its kind of an akward relationship having the very weathered old fashioned, vintage filmstrip look being matched up with a very modern contemporary font.

While im on the subject of typography, some of the sentences had way to large of spaces between the words, was that intentional?

Typography aside, i think it had pretty good pacing, the song felt appropriate and it was a nice little time capsule of a piece.

Yea, now that you mention it, the font seems out of place, but I wanted it to be a little similar to my own writting then to something default on a program. The spacing naturally comes in like that, has something to do with font, it bothered me, but I had a liking for the letters, so I set the spacing aside.
