The first Atlanta meet up was a lot of fun. The second one wasn't so bad either. I enjoyed meeting some newgrounds folks that I still talk to today.
When I was around 8 years old I was looking at madness cartoons on the family computer. Of course since it was violent as shit and my parents were strict about that shit, I got scared and immediately closed out of Newgrounds when my dad walked into the room. He started questioning me on what I was doing and if I was doing something bad and I just cried. Then I went to the couch and sat next to my brother who was playing wii sports resort and I just watched him while I still cried. I look back on this memory and laugh at it if that counts for it being positive lol.

that was some gross whisky
Some random ones:
I think I eventually made my account in 2007 to favourite Metal Gear Awesome 2. I remember that bastard being on the front page for ages. The simpler times~
I also kinda got acknowledged by JohnnyUtah and Spazkid through art reviews. Felt cool.
Years ago for one of the Christmas community events, I drew a card of Tom as a Santa and that got turned into an official laminated card to be sent out to someone.
This place is my home, bruh.
Not long after making Dick Neck Origins, I went to a new community college that facilitated my animation goals. I was early for the first day of class in my intro to basic graphic design class, so I started doodling and conceptualizing on a sequel to Dick Neck.
Another student sat nearby and saw what I was drawing, a deformed Hulk with glasses fighting off a robotic character. He asked what it was, and I told him it was for a flash animation I was working on about a guy with a dick for a neck.
I'll never forget, he replied "Oh you mean like that flash on Newgrounds?" I was stunned. It taught me just how far of a reach this site has, and it fueled me to go further.
I sort of have two, which are the meet ups I got a chance to go to.
I was WAY different back then. But going to Ambler theater and seeing everything and everyone was awesome. I only knew a bunch about Tom and didn't recognize most others. But as time progressed and I attended Revolutions bowling, I knew everyone. I'm still friends with a few "under the radar" artists I met there, and I began working on more projects and art pieces after the meet ups because of the awesome advice others gave me.
It's so much to say, and not enough words to say it.
But top of the list is seeing the Steve cake in person!
I think I remember seeing you at Revolutions?
i think i remember you, id need more visual cluez.
I was really late when it came to realizing how awesome NG was, started being a regular member since 2017 and always spent boring classes exploring new and old classic games. My fav activity in school was to go back to the oldest games in NG and play those with classmates and laugh our asses off. I also figured out a JoyToKey layout for my controller so I could play some of the flash games easier with my disabled arm. I became such a huge fan of MindChamber's stuff that I based one of my school game projects on his style. I remembered one day in class was reading my notifications in NG and saw that he had commented on one of my art pieces for Robot Day. I made a weird loud noise from surprise and everyone in class stared at me.. That was a lil embarrassing, but still made me very happy!
I can honestly say that NG and it's people have really made me a better and more inspired person. Love all of u guyz. XOXOXO
he do have a unique street art style to his stuff. I've not seen too much like it since.
I first found ng taking a CAD class in middle school in the school PC lab. Some high schoolers were playing games when the teacher wasn't paying attention. I loved the place immediately and when my family finally got a real PC (our imac couldn't even load the front page) i made an account and started hanging around the BBS
That flag is dope. Was it custom made?
I never had an official NG account 'til last year, but I remember when I was on elementary school, one kid liked to visit NG on the computers of the school so we can all see how he did his best at playing games and we also watched some animations
My memories of what exactly he was playing are kinda blurry, but I do remember the NG logo
PD. One time, a teacher got him into detention for using the computer to play...
Through Newgrounds, I not only gained access to many franchises I appreciate for the first time (Final Fantasy, Sonic, Mega Man, Zelda, etc), but I also met many wonderful people who have inspired me and helped put me on my current path (Master Tom, Mindchamber, Miroko, Adam Phillips, etc). Newgrounds is my life, and my future.
I had maybe some of that stuff damn me I lost it all.
I've just done digital painting for quite some time now and this years pixel day inspired me to try out some animation and pixel art for the first time... at the SAME time. I ended up getting front paged for it and has since encouraged me to explore other visual mediums. Thanks Newgrounds for getting me out of my comfort zone!
I have two memories I'd like to share.
The primary reason I got into animation is because of SpikeVallentine's early animations and tutorials. Snow Snow for Lucy was one of my favorite NG animations. I was super broke at the time and didn't want to buy a mystery box, but a kind user (Piggler) sold me one in 2014. It's one of my most prized possessions TBH. I actually just drew some shitty Lucy fanart last month. Thanks <deleted>.
Other memory is when NG was hosting monthly (?) art contests to give away Wacom tablets circa 2010. I was using a shitty Genius back then (it was like $35). I think I made this account to participate because I couldn't remember my password or something. My friend and I kept laughing/crying at how stupid the winning entries were. It was literally just dicks.
Oh my god!! I remember fiding newgrounds thanks to old sprite flash movies on other sites, like VGDC and Dungeon something (I remember Wario animation there) after finding it I checked the teletubies animations and played many games, I remember having the worst time playing Pico vs the bear thingy, and at that time I didn't know english so I never knew wtf everyone will say but it was fun and I liked it! checked it every day, after the youtube takeover on the internet I still remember those times, Newgrounds is part of my inspiration to be an animator and also a a game dev
Having gone on the site throughout college days after my cousins showed me some hilarious resident evil parody's and awesome original animations
One of my best memories of this site is waking up to Chutneys art of my character and XJ9, it made me explode! That shit made me so fucking happy my lil brain couldn't handle it, and every Chutney release would instantly make my day 10x better no matter what. This site gave me a cool as fuck friend and had the ability to make me instantly happy. What more could a wee little man ask for!
After I joined I reworked and uploaded an old game jam game I made and got decent feedback about it. This was the first project I threw out into the open like that and I loved hearing what people thought of it.
I have particularly fond memories of the london meetup in 2013. Think it mightve been the last one actually. Was great to be able to put faces to names and finally meet a couple of friends I'd made on the site in real life. The snow caused havok with the trains but we got lucky and ours was one of the few still running. Got pretty hammered in namco but vaguely remember giving you a bunch of tickets we'd won on the arcade machines. Still have the group shot from by the London eye as my Facebook cover photo.
