I've been going through something a bit similar. School stuff has been pinning me down so bad, so I'd just isolate and program. Compete in game jam after game jam or start project after project. It was all just an excuse to keep something else on my mind, something I enjoyed doing... until it became the CRUTCH of my enjoyment. If I wasn't getting enjoyment from programming, everything would feel like NOTHING and I'd just hate what I was doing - even though I was doing it voluntarily.

I took a few weeks break and now I'm back working on a project with NO deadline. Something big and fun (with friends), but at my own pace. Things feel much better! <3
